FT/P2-24 Experimental Results of Series Gyrotrons for the Stellarator W7-X
نویسندگان
چکیده
The stellarator W7-X is presently under construction in Greifswald, Germany. It will have a powerful ECRH which will be used for plasma start-up, heating and current drive. The complete ECRH system, including the RF generators, transmission line and auxiliary power supplies will be provided under the leadership of FZK in a European collaboration. The RF power will be delivered by 140 GHz, 1 MW gyrotrons which are able to operate in continuous wave. Nine (out of 10) of these gyrotron come from a european development program with Thales Electron Devices as industrial partner, one gyrotron has been delivered by Communications and Power Industries. Both gyrotrons have shown the design values. This contribution reports on the present status of the series gyrotrons from Thales Electron Devices.

Tomography by the maximum entropy method for the W7-AS and W7-X multichannel bolometer systems
Amaximum entropy approach has been applied to the tomographic inversion of the line integrated measurements of radiation power ux by a multichannel bolometer system. This method was applied to a H-mode discharge in the W7-AS stellarator, with increasing radiation from the plasma core after the transition being observed. Also a neutral beam injection discharge was investigated, and the time evol...
متن کاملPerformance of ECR heating during the first operational phase of W7-X
Wendelstein 7-X is an optimised stellarator designed for steady-state operation. The only steadystate capable heating system is electron cyclotron resonance heating (ECRH) launching microwaves at 140GHz into the vessel corresponding to the 2nd harmonic of the electron cyclotron frequency at 2.5 T. A quasi optical transmission line is used to bring the power into the machine. The power is launch...
متن کاملWall Conditioning by ECRH and GDC at the Wendelstein 7-X Stellarator
Wall conditioning in magnetic controlled fusion devices is a common tool to improve plasma performance and discharge reproducibility [1]. It will be relied upon in the next W7-X operation phases (OP1.2 in 2017-2018 and OP2 starting in 2020) to control the surface state of the plasmafacing components (PFC) with the eventual aim of providing access to continuous discharge operation [2]. The super...
متن کاملSelective ECR heating of trapped/passing electrons in the W7-X stellarator
Using specific features of the magnetic equilibrium in the W7-X stellarator, ECRH scenarios with X2 and X3 modes are discussed. The aim is to explore the possibility of selective heating of the different classes of electrons, passing and trapped, by different RF beams with different frequencies, which can be launched from ports located in different crosssections of the device. Perspectives for ...
